Preparing for Natural Disaster
Are you prepared for a Natural Disaster? Find out how to plan now for the
future health and safety of your horses. Days End Farm Horse Rescue was on
the scene rescuing horses and other animals in the aftermath of both
Hurricane Katrina and Rita. It was obvious that many people had not prepared
for an emergency plan for their animals. As a result, disaster preparedness
has risen to the top of many of priority lists. A natural disaster CAN
happen to you. Remember, it may be too late to prepare once you've received
the call to evacuate. - Saturday, 6-7pm, Seminar Hall

Coping with a Fear of
Horses and Riding
In decades of experience working with many thousands of riders, Julie has
discovered that beginning through expert riders in all disciplines
experience fear that impacts their enjoyment of horses. As more people are
attracted to equestrian pursuits, fear has become a growing issue. Julie
focuses on understanding the nature of fear in the rider, how riders' fear
impacts horses, and concrete skills that can be developed for overcoming
fear around horses.

Life Lessons Horses Teach
Julie's philosophical perspective examines life lessons to be learned from
horses. Taking the time to understand horses' behavior, listen to their
language, and be open to the possibility that humans are not always right,
opens opportunities to explore, discover and learn amazing things about
horses and one's self. Horses truly mirror human emotions and actions.
Horses never lie and never have hidden agendas. Horses understand only horse
behavior, which is clear, consistent, and based on leadership, respect,
relationships, and survival. Humans don't always understand human behavior,
we must adjust our behavior to the horse, altering our thinking, emotions
and actions so as to be clear, consistent, honest, and open.

her presentations, this clinic relates to all disciplines of riding.

Making your Horse Road Safe
Riding in traffic means so much to so many people. To the rural rider, it
means a vehicle will pass by on the road every ten to twenty minutes or not
at all. To the urban rider, it means a vehicle will be passing frequently.
To a mounted police officer, it means it never goes away -- traffic is
constant. What does it take to ride in traffic and make your horse
understand that you will protect him and that he can trust you to go where
you point him? How does a horse get used to it all, and what does it take
from you to help keep them there? Where is it safe to ride and where is it
not? When should you be on the shoulder or in the lane? What about the big
trucks, how do you cope with those?
- Thursday, 4-5pm, Exhibition Hall Arena
Overcome Rider Fear
So many riders have had experiences in their lives that make them, fearful
riders. Have you ever been on a runaway? Have you been thrown or bucked off?
Is your horse unruly on the ground? Every experience where we’ve been
injured or afraid gets locked into our mind, body, and spirit and changes
the way we interact with our horse. This lecture will address the types of
fear, how we transfer our fear to our horses, and how to break free of the
bonds and make ourselves and our horses brave.

you be carrying? Having answers to these simple questions will help you ride

will help you ride with confidence.

improving his level of trust in you. Yet most people are afraid to try it
– or they think their horse would be afraid.
